{"id":5973,"date":"2022-04-25T11:57:37","date_gmt":"2022-04-25T11:57:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.circularactionhub.org\/seven-initiatives-delivering-a-range-of-solutions-to-waste-management-in-africa\/"},"modified":"2022-04-26T10:05:48","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T10:05:48","slug":"seven-initiatives-delivering-a-range-of-solutions-to-waste-management-in-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.circularactionhub.org\/seven-initiatives-delivering-a-range-of-solutions-to-waste-management-in-africa\/?lang=fr","title":{"rendered":"Seven initiatives delivering a range of solutions to waste management in Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This month, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularactionhub.org\/?lang=fr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Circular Action Hub<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> welcomed seven brilliant initiatives in countries from Central, West and East Africa, which are delivering a range of waste management solutions from recycling household waste and high-density plastic to producing<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> biofuel and improving waste pickers\u2019 living wages.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.associacao-mocambicana-reciclagem.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mozambican Recycling Association (AMOR) <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">runs a social inclusive initiative enabling recycling in Mozambique by valuing waste pickers&#8217; role, using <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kolekt.app\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BVRio&#8217;s app KOLEKT<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to respond to issues such as lack of funding and improvements to waste pickers living wages. AMOR intends to spread the use of KOLEKT in the country to turn waste management sustainable and transparent, and lead the way to an inclusive circular economy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Working to make waste recovery a lever for territorial development in Benin, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gbobeto.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gbob\u00e8t\u00f4 <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has added four projects to the Hub. Gbob\u00e8t\u00f4 is transforming biodegradable waste into ecological fuel for households cooktops and setting up professional sorting units to process household waste. It is also establishing a recycling unit for Porto-Novo to recover high-density plastic waste and running an operation to build waste sorting capacity in schools alongside environmental education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An ambitious project in Kenya from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/leafylife.co.ke\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeafyLife<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aims to recycle disposable diapers and recover 80 per cent of the virgin materials to make construction materials and biofuel, targeting to recycle at least 250kgs of disposable diapers per day which is 60 tonnes per annum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/caepa-cameroon\/?originalSubdomain=cm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CAEPA<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is delivering awareness campaigns, collection and recycling services to households in Bamenda, Cameroon, a sustainable waste management initiative aiming to benefit 500 families and create employment for more than 20 people.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Find these projects in our <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.circularactionhub.org\/projects\/\">Project directory<\/a>, along with other hundreds of initiatives providing solutions for local waste management.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This month, the Circular Action Hub welcomed seven brilliant initiatives in countries from Central, West and East Africa, which are delivering a range of waste management solutions from recycling household waste and high-density plastic to producing biofuel and improving waste pickers\u2019 living wages.
